Gamble Cheat Lie Steal & Kill - (it's not what you might think)

I heard Bruce Jenner -Olympic Decathlon Champion talk about these on a video. I added the kill part.

Five things that you can do to make 2012 an exciting and successful year.

1. Gamble the best shot you’ve got in life; dare to take risks; life has to be a great adventure or it’s nothing. Bet on yourself to be a success

2. Cheat those who would have you be less than who you are; surround yourself with positive proactive  people; help others. Cheat those who would have you fail or not support you. Set your goals and create your plans and strategies and work on them.

3. Lie in the arms of those that you love and care for and also give those same people a place to rest their head and don’t take anyone for granted.

4. Steal every moment of happiness; live everyday as if it were your last day because you never know when your last day will be

5. Kill any negative thoughts or doubts that you are not up to the challenges of being a successful person – do this by valuing up your knowledge and experience.

Read this post written by Leo Babauta from www.zenhabits.net - he will show you a few "tricks" to help you keep your journal simple, easy and sustainable.

To be productive or not to be productive

Self-employed business people and small business owners have a tendency to work all hours of the day and night but this does not mean they are being productive.  As a business coach since 1994 I have observed some of the reasons why productivity is not as it should be.

A survey completed of OECD countries showed that a small country like New Zealand placed 3rd for the number of hours worked but 24th for productivityOver 85% of businesses in NZ are self-employed or small businesses.

Productivity is not about how many hours you work – it is about what you do with those hours.   Here are my observations of why productivity is not as it should be and what to do about it:

Are you in-between winning and losing in business?

Are you an in-betweener?  In-between good and great; in-between stagnating and growth; in-between walking and running; in-between not making a decision and making
a decision.

The Quiet Theory of Influence

Post written by Leo Babauta. www.zenhabits.net

Most online marketing people will teach you how to use social media to reach a larger audience, how to use email lists and the scarcity principle and social proof, how to create authority, how to effectively convert page views into sales.

Most marketers, online or off, are full of it.

Converting visitors into buyers is a soul-less use of your creative energy. Reject it, out of hand.

I find more value in creating something of value. I find influence a better metric than sales or traffic or reader numbers.
